UAE to Host 2028 AI Summit, Co-Chair 2027 Edition with Switzerland

The United Arab Emirates will host the Artificial Intelligence Summit in 2028, a move that underscores the country’s ambition to remain a global hub for advanced technology while helping shape responsible international AI governance, according to Emirates News Agency

Ahead of that, the UAE will co-chair the 2027 edition alongside the Swiss Confederation in Geneva, reflecting its growing role in steering global dialogue, encouraging multilateral cooperation, and supporting the development of balanced AI policies.

The announcement was made during the “AI Impact Summit 2026” held in New Delhi from 16 to 20 February, framed as part of the UAE’s broader support for international cooperation in advanced technologies and strategic partnerships that accelerate innovation and the use of AI for sustainable development across key sectors.

Omar Sultan Al Olama said the UAE’s approach is rooted in international dialogue and aligning perspectives among governments, institutions, and decision-makers, arguing that this collaboration is essential to keeping pace with the rapid acceleration of global technological change. He added that the UAE aims to build “bridges of cooperation” and enable the exchange of expertise and joint policymaking that promotes responsible AI adoption with tangible benefits for societies.

Emirates News Agency noted that the UAE’s back-to-back leadership roles reflect international confidence in a model that combines faster innovation with responsible regulatory frameworks—positioning safety, ethics, and inclusivity as core principles, and advancing AI governance grounded in transparency and accountability.

The AI Summit is described as a leading global platform bringing together government leaders, policymakers, technology pioneers, experts, and international organisations to exchange best practices, develop actionable policies, and strengthen cross-border partnerships—aimed at ensuring AI is used safely, reliably, and ethically while supporting inclusive growth and digital transformation.
