ADNOC deploys AI platform across 120+ drilling rigs

The AI-enabled platform cuts engineering effort by up to 40% and helps operators avoid as much as two days of potential rig downtime.
ADNOC, the UAE’s state-owned energy company, and SLB, a global energy technology company, have deployed an AI-enabled Real-Time Operations Center (RTOC) across more than 120 drilling rigs in the UAE, connecting onshore and offshore operations through a single monitoring environment, ADNOC said.
The platform replaces multiple existing tools and reduces engineering effort by 30-40%, enabling engineers to support two to three times more rigs while maintaining operational oversight. ADNOC said tasks that previously required a full day of analysis can now be completed within minutes.
RTOC combines real-time drilling data, advanced analytics and AI-generated insights to help teams identify operational risks earlier and make faster decisions. According to ADNOC, the system can reduce incident response times by four to 12 hours and help avoid one to two days of rig downtime.
Sovereign cloud deployment
The platform is enabled by SLB’s DrillOps intelligent well delivery and insights solution and is deployed within ADNOC’s sovereign cloud environment.
Developed in the UAE and hosted within ADNOC’s cloud infrastructure, RTOC keeps critical operational data and workflows inside the country. ADNOC said the approach strengthens data security, operational resilience and long-term digital independence.
The deployment covers rigs operated by ADNOC Drilling across ADNOC Onshore and ADNOC Offshore assets and forms part of the company’s wider effort to introduce AI into core upstream workflows and move toward more autonomous drilling operations.
