Abu Dhabi Integrates Smart Ambulances into Emergency Response System
Abu Dhabi has introduced specialized smart ambulances to strengthen emergency response and coordination across its healthcare system.
The Department of Health and Civil Defense Authority, in collaboration with the Public Health Centre, have unveiled the new fleet and integrated it into the Unified Medical Operations Centre (UOMC). The initiative is designed to connect emergency services, healthcare teams and specialized medical capabilities within a more coordinated response system.
The ambulances operate within the UMOC, which supports a continuous care journey from the initial response to arrival at a healthcare facility.
The fleet includes mobile intensive care units, maternal and neonatal ambulances, and vehicles designed for patients with additional mobility and transport needs. The intensive care units carry equipment such as ultrasound systems, infusion pumps and ventilators.
Civil Defense Authority said the initiative expands the role of the ambulance beyond patient transport. The vehicles form part of a broader emergency response system that combines specialized personnel, medical equipment and advanced technologies.
Authorities are positioning the deployment within a wider resilience strategy. The model brings together ambulances, healthcare professionals, emergency services, technology and infrastructure as one connected ecosystem.
The approach aims to support earlier intervention, improve continuity of emergency care and strengthen overall preparedness.
