UAE Adopting VisionLabs’ Luna Ace 2 Biometric Access

VisionLabs, a facial recognition company based in the Netherlands and originally founded in Russia, has launched a new version of its biometric access control terminal, the Luna Ace 2.

This device is designed for government and large enterprise customers, featuring a slimmer design, a 7-inch screen, an improved camera system, and “on-the-move” technology that enables identity verification without stopping.

VisionLabs has already secured a buyer for the Luna Ace 2 in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), although the specific buyer has not been disclosed. The UAE has been incorporating facial recognition technology into various sectors, including passport control, policing, public transport, and banking. VisionLabs has been working in partnership with Smart Engines, an Armenian computer vision company, to provide verification solutions for the UAE’s largest bank, Emirates NBD. Additionally, VisionLabs has developed deepfake detection technology with an accuracy rate ranging from 92 to 100 percent and is involved in the development of Russia’s unified biometrics system. In February, the company was added to the U.S. Department of Commerce Entity List.
