NOC Questions UN Panel Report on Libya Oil Sector

Libya’s National Oil Corporation says a recent UN Panel of Experts report on the country’s oil sector contains methodological and technical shortcomings and that it will issue a detailed response after completing a full internal review

In a statement, the NOC said its initial assessment found gaps in the report’s data, conclusions, and methodology, including what it described as an overreliance on open-source information without sufficient supporting evidence or clear verification criteria. It also said it was not given an adequate opportunity to review some technical and financial information before it was included.

The corporation said it has launched a comprehensive review of the report and will publish a documented response to clarify the facts. It also plans to hold a conference to present its findings and reaffirm its commitment to transparency, professionalism, and cooperation with the relevant oversight bodies and the UN Panel of Experts.
