Intersec Special: Genetec’s Security Solution for Rapidly Expanding Region

Genetec, a leader in security technology, presented its latest advancements at Intersec 2025, emphasizing cloud-based solutions, unified security platforms, and AI-driven analytics.
With the rapid development of infrastructure projects across the Middle East, particularly in the UAE and Saudi Arabia, the demand for scalable security solutions has grown significantly. According to Andy Mackay, Head of EMEA Marketing at Genetec, one of the most significant trends in the region has been the rise of large infrastructure projects, including new cities and transportation networks. He noted that managing the movement of large populations requires advanced security systems that can seamlessly integrate multiple components.
Meeting the Security Demands of Large-Scale Projects
Over the years, Genetec has expanded its portfolio beyond video management software (VMS). A decade ago, the company transitioned into a broader security solutions provider by incorporating access control into its unified platform. This led to the development of Security Center, a solution that integrates license plate recognition, perimeter detection, and various other security functions under a single user interface.
“That platform is now the base of our portfolio that now allows a unified environment and one user interface to manage the entire physical security system”, explains Mackay.
License Plate Recognition and Law Enforcement Integration
One of the standout features of the Security Center is its ALPR (Automatic License Plate Recognition) solution, AutoVu. This technology enables organizations to monitor vehicles, track license plates, and automate processes for parking authorities and law enforcement agencies. For parking management, the system can verify payments, allow or deny access, and track the duration of vehicle stays. For law enforcement, it enables authorities to monitor and track vehicles across transportation networks, providing enhanced situational awareness.
Cloud-Based Security and AI-Powered Automation
As cloud adoption increases in the Middle East, Genetec has aligned its strategy accordingly. The introduction of Security Center SaaS (Software as a Service) offers a cloud-based security solution that enhances scalability, flexibility, and efficiency.
The company has also been leveraging AI and machine learning models to improve security operations. These technologies help automate tasks, making security responses quicker, more accurate, and more efficient. Mackay emphasized that forensic search capabilities will play a crucial role in security management moving forward.
Looking Ahead
Genetec participated at Intersec 2025, reaffirming its commitment to providing advanced security solutions tailored for growing urban environments. With its unified platform, cloud-ready solutions, and AI-powered automation, the company remains at the forefront of security innovation.
As Mackay concluded, “We’re really excited to also be attending Intersec in 2025. We’re going to continue showcasing our latest technologies, especially around video surveillance and the city management and transportation growth in that region.”
