Genetec Adds New Access Control Features to Advance Cloud Modernization

Genetec has expanded Security Center SaaS with new access control capabilities aimed at helping enterprises modernize in the cloud without replacing existing infrastructure

Genetec has introduced a new set of access control enhancements to its Security Center SaaS platform, strengthening its push to help enterprises modernize physical security operations through the cloud. The updates focus on simplifying daily workflows, improving visitor handling and expanding support for intrusion and biometric technologies, while allowing organizations to retain their existing hardware environment.

According to the company, the latest release includes a new front desk experience designed to unify visitor check-in and access workflows in one cloud-based interface. This allows reception and front desk teams to manage scheduled and walk-in visitors more efficiently, while security teams maintain policy oversight and visibility. Visitor screening rules can also be applied during check-in to compare individuals against external databases and registries, with predefined actions triggered automatically if a match or exception is detected.

Genetec said the changes are intended to reduce manual steps and improve consistency in environments such as schools, healthcare facilities and corporate offices, where visitor flows and access permissions need to be managed closely. By separating front-desk tasks from security policy enforcement, the company is positioning the platform as a way to improve operational efficiency without weakening control.

A major part of the announcement is Genetec’s emphasis on non-disruptive cloud migration. The company said Security Center SaaS is built to support cloud modernization without forcing customers into a full rip-and-replace approach. Through its open architecture and Genetec Cloudlink appliances, organizations can connect existing access control and intrusion hardware to the cloud while moving at their own pace.

The ecosystem expansion includes broader intrusion support for Radionix, formerly Bosch, and Honeywell, with DMP support scheduled for June 2026. Genetec also announced a new integration with SAFR SCAN, enabling customers to add facial authentication as an option for higher-assurance identity verification. The company said this can provide a faster and more secure alternative to traditional credentials such as cards or badges.

Francis Lachance, Senior Director, Product at Genetec, said security teams should not be constrained by legacy infrastructure or forced into all-or-nothing cloud decisions. He said the latest updates are intended to preserve architectural choice while giving organizations a more flexible path to enterprise-grade access control in the cloud.

The new front desk experience is available immediately to all Security Center SaaS users. Expanded support for Honeywell Galaxy intrusion panels is also available now, while DMP support and the SAFR biometrics integration are expected by June 2026. Genetec will showcase the latest version of the platform at ISC West.
