According to the most recent information regarding the automated surveillance law for traffic violations, drivers who are caught using visual devices while driving can expect to be fined.

Chief of Radar Operations at the General Traffic Department Major Hamad Ali Al Muhannadi said to Al Rayyan TV that it is illegal to use car dashboard screens along with mobile phones during driving. Both of these things can now be detected by the radar system.

Said radar system is a part of the new automated surveillance system designed to detect traffic violations. It aims to track failure to wear seatbelts as well as the use of mobile devices while driving.

According to Doha News, the traffic monitoring program is meant to start on the 3rd of September.  Drivers have been informed that the violations will be detected, although some of them do have opposing opinions on the subject.

The initiative to start with the traffic monitoring program is designed with the objective to stamp out road injuries and deaths.
