Salto Achieves EPD for XS4 Original+ Smart Locking Range

Salto recently announced that XS4 Original+ smart locking range has passed a 3rd party verification of the EPD (Environmental Product Declaration) for the European and Scandinavian narrow models.

This achievement marks a significant milestone in Salto’s efforts to embed sustainability and transparency into the operations and product design. Furthermore, it sets a new standard for environmental responsibility in smart access control.

An EPD is a third-party verified document that provides a transparent, detailed account of a product’s environmental impact throughout its lifecycle – from material extraction and manufacturing to end-of-life disposal. EPDs offer a credible, standardised means for both companies and consumers to evaluate a product’s environmental impact.

For architects, designers, developers, and other built environment professionals, an EPD offers critical insights that inform sustainable decision-making. It also ensures compliance with green building standards as well as eco-friendly construction practices. By quantifying a product’s environmental footprint, EPDs empower decision-makers to prioritise sustainable architecture.

In today’s construction and real estate sectors, decision-makers face a reality where buildings account for a significant share of global energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions. EPDs have gained considerable importance as a result, becoming invaluable tools that help professionals select materials and solutions that support resource-efficient and low-impact building projects.
