HID, Soloinsight and Connected Technology Solutions have introduced a self-service visitor check-in kiosk combining document authentication, facial verification and visitor management for enterprise and critical infrastructure environments.

The solution integrates HID’s ATOM document reader and U.ARE.U facial recognition module with Soloinsight’s CloudGate visitor management and physical identity and access management (PIAM) platform and a kiosk developed by Connected Technology Solutions (CTS), according to an HID announcement.

Designed for facilities including data centers, hospitals, offices and logistics hubs, the system is intended to verify that a visitor is the person associated with the identity document presented before an access credential is issued.

Document and facial verification

Visitors can be pre-registered through CloudGate and receive an invitation containing a QR code. At the kiosk, the QR code is scanned before the HID ATOM reader authenticates the visitor’s passport, driver’s license or mobile ID.

HID’s U.ARE.U Face Module then performs live facial verification, comparing the visitor with the identity document and rejecting attempts where the face does not match or a live face is not detected. Once verification is completed, CloudGate confirms the check-in, the kiosk prints a visitor pass and the host is notified.

The ATOM reader can process QR codes, encoded passport and ID data, barcodes and RFID or NFC chips, allowing several credential types to be handled by a single device.

Centralized visitor records

CloudGate records each verified transaction in a centralized visitor record, providing security teams with an audit trail for investigations, reporting and compliance.

According to HID, the platform supports around 30 physical access control system connectors and more than 150 integrations across IT, HR, identity and access management and security information and event management systems. The solution also provides native support for HID Signo readers and mobile credentials.

The companies are positioning the integrated kiosk for organizations where visitor identity assurance and traceable access records are particularly important, including regulated enterprises and critical infrastructure facilities.
