Axis Adds Two-Way Audio Ring to M5526-E PTZ Camera
Axis Communications has unveiled the AXIS TQ5901 Audio Ring, a new accessory designed to add two-way audio capabilities to its AXIS M5526-E PTZ camera. According to the company’s newsroom announcement published on March 24, the device combines a built-in microphone and speaker to enable direct conversations with people near the camera while preserving the camera’s imaging performance.
As reported by Axis Communications, the accessory is aimed at users looking for a relatively simple way to upgrade existing video surveillance deployments with audio functionality. The company said the unit is designed for ceiling installations, is easy to mount and also includes noise suppression to support clearer communication in operational environments.
Beyond two-way audio, the AXIS TQ5901 Audio Ring also adds infrared and visual signaling functions. Axis said the device includes three IR LEDs to enhance surveillance in complete darkness, while its built-in LEDs can be used to signal camera-triggered events. The accessory also supports eight color options for the LEDs, allowing it to be adapted to different operational or site-specific needs.
According to Axis Communications, the AXIS TQ5901 Audio Ring will be available through the company’s distribution channels at the end of the second quarter of 2026. The launch reflects the broader market trend of combining video surveillance with audio and situational-awareness features to improve interaction, deterrence and response at monitored sites.
