A New AI Council Established in Abu Dhabi
A new artificial intelligence council, the Artificial Intelligence and Advanced Technology Council (AIATC), has been established by the ruler of Abu Dhabi, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE. It aims to develop and maintain an emerging technology sector, as well as to create investment and research opportunities. Responsibilities of the council include developing and implementing policies and strategies in research, infrastructure and investments in artificial intelligence and modern technology in Abu Dhabi, according to Gulf Insider.
Sheikh Mohamed additionally issued a decree to appoint members of the council. Sheikh Tahnoun bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Deputy Ruler of Abu Dhabi, was appointed as the Chairman of the AIATC. The position of the Vice Chairman was taken by Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council. Additional council members are Khaldoon Khalifa Al Mubarak, Jassem Mohamed Bu Ataba Al Zaabi, Faisal Abdulaziz Al Bannai, and Peng Xiao, as stated by Gulf Insider.
The Artificial Intelligence and Advanced Technology Council believes strongly in the significance of technological leadership in creating the future economy. The council will create plans and research programmes along with local and global partners to improve the UAE’s status in artificial intelligence and advanced technology.
