The Transport General Authority is embarking on a groundbreaking initiative this Hajj season by introducing a trial of self-driving electric buses to cater to the needs of pilgrims. This endeavor aims to bring forth cutting-edge technology for sustainable and eco-friendly transportation.
The primary objective of this initiative is to offer pilgrims a range of transportation options, simplifying their journey to the holy sites.
These self-driving buses employ artificial intelligence, cameras, and surrounding sensors to navigate predefined routes autonomously, eliminating the need for human intervention. By gathering and analyzing data during their operation, these buses make informed decisions, focusing on improving passenger experience and ensuring utmost safety. With seating capacity for 11 passengers, each bus can operate for 6 hours on a single charge and achieve speeds of up to 30 km/h.
