Qatar Partners with PwC and OpenAI to Build National AI Ecosystem
Doha signs landmark agreement to accelerate digital transformation through advanced AI infrastructure, testbeds, and innovation projects.
Qatar’s Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) has signed a cooperation agreement with PwC Middle East and OpenAI to advance the country’s national AI ecosystem. The partnership focuses on three pillars: establishing an AI testbed for government entities and startups, boosting public-sector productivity with tools such as ChatGPT, and designing innovative AI-driven projects in key national sectors.
MCIT’s Director of Digital Innovation, Eman Al Kuwari, emphasized that the initiative aims to create a world-class AI framework grounded in governance and trusted innovation. PwC will provide advisory expertise, while OpenAI will contribute technical support and access to advanced AI models. Together, the collaboration seeks to accelerate Qatar’s digital transformation, enhance public services, and support the nation’s transition to a sustainable, knowledge-based economy.
The agreement is also seen as a strategic move to nurture national talent capable of leading AI deployment at scale, ensuring that innovation is both safe and impactful. By combining policy leadership, consulting expertise, and cutting-edge technology, Qatar aims to move beyond experimentation toward measurable results, improving citizen experiences and unlocking growth across priority sectors.
