Hikvision Camera Earns ITxPT Certification
Hikvision has received ITxPT certification for its Dual-Lens Passenger Counting Camera, expanding interoperability with standardized onboard systems for public transport.
The ITxPT (Information Technology for Public Transport) certification confirms that Hikvision’s DS-2XM6825G1 Dual-Lens Passenger Counting Camera complies with one of Europe’s leading interoperability standards for onboard transport technology.
The certification ensures compatibility with ITxPT-compliant systems and enables standardized passenger data collection across buses and rail vehicles.
The company says this helps transport operators simplify system integration while improving operational efficiency, even when infrastructure includes equipment from multiple vendors.
Why ITxPT matters
ITxPT is a European specification that promotes interoperability between onboard public transport systems. Compliance allows equipment from different manufacturers to exchange standardized data, reducing integration complexity and supporting smarter fleet management.
Accurate passenger counting for smarter operations
The camera is designed to address two common challenges in public transportation: limited visibility inside vehicles and incomplete passenger flow data.
Using dual-lens stereo vision, the device reconstructs a three-dimensional view to distinguish passengers from objects such as bicycles, wheelchairs, and strollers. Hikvision states the system delivers more than 98% counting accuracy by registering passengers only after they fully enter or exit the vehicle.
Collected data can be displayed and exported by route, vehicle, or stop, helping operators optimize scheduling, capacity planning, and service management.
Built for demanding transit environments
The passenger counting camera supports installation heights from 1.9 meters, making it suitable for buses, metro vehicles, and articulated coaches. It supports multiple integration options.
With an operating temperature range from -30°C to 75°C, the device is designed for continuous operation in challenging transport environments.
