Axis Communications Strengthens Enterprise IT Integration with EST Support

The company says support for Enrollment over Secure Transport will simplify secure onboarding and certificate lifecycle management for connected devices

[Axis Communications](https://www.axis.com?utm_source=chatgpt.com) has expanded its enterprise IT integration capabilities by adding support for Enrollment over Secure Transport (EST), designed to simplify secure device onboarding and automated certificate management across enterprise networks.

According to the company, support for the EST standard, introduced in AXIS OS 12.10 and later versions, enables Axis devices to automatically request and renew X.509 certificates through centralized IT infrastructure. The capability is intended to strengthen security while reducing the operational burden associated with manual certificate provisioning.

Axis said the technology supports secure deployment scenarios involving HTTPS, IEEE 802.1X authentication, and Zero Trust network architectures. The company added that the integration is compatible with enterprise identity and certificate management platforms including Keyfactor EJBCA, HPE Aruba ClearPass Policy Manager, and Cisco Identity Services Engine.

The development reflects growing convergence between physical security systems and enterprise IT infrastructure, particularly as organizations deploy larger volumes of connected surveillance and IoT devices across critical environments.

Axis emphasized that automated certificate lifecycle management can help organizations improve their cybersecurity posture while lowering operational costs by reducing the need for manual intervention in deployment and maintenance.

The company also highlighted additional cybersecurity capabilities within its ecosystem, including support for HTTPS TLS 1.2/1.3, secure syslog, IEEE 802.1AE MACsec encryption, and device identity provisioning through Axis Edge Vault.

As organizations across the Middle East continue expanding smart infrastructure and connected security deployments, secure onboarding and lifecycle management of IoT devices are becoming increasingly important for compliance, resilience, and operational efficiency.

The announcement underlines the growing focus among security vendors on aligning physical security infrastructure with enterprise IT standards and Zero Trust cybersecurity frameworks.
