UAE-backed 8-exaflop AI Supercomputer to Be Deployed in India Under Sovereign Governance Framework
G42 said it will deliver a national-scale AI supercomputer in India with 8 exaflops of compute capacity, in a project designed to strengthen India’s sovereign AI infrastructure and expand local capabilities for advanced AI development
According to the official announcement, the system will be delivered by G42 and Cerebras Systems, in partnership with Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence and India’s Centre for Development of Advanced Computing. The project was announced on the sidelines of the AI Impact Summit 2026 and is positioned as a foundational asset under the India AI Mission.
G42 said the supercomputer will be hosted within India, operate under India-defined governance frameworks, and keep all data within national jurisdiction to meet sovereign security and compliance requirements.
Manu Jain, CEO of G42 India, said sovereign AI infrastructure is becoming essential for national competitiveness and that the project aims to enable local researchers, innovators and enterprises to scale AI while maintaining data sovereignty and security.
The partners added that access will extend across India’s ecosystem, including leading institutions, startups, SMEs and government ministries, with the goal of lowering barriers to AI innovation for applications serving India’s population.
