Fixed fire and gas detection market to hit $10.86B

The global fixed fire and gas detection systems market is forecast to grow from $7.84 billion in 2026 to $10.86 billion by 2031, driven by industrial safety investments, stricter regulation and the modernization of high-risk facilities.

According to a new MarketsandMarkets report, the market is expected to expand at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 6.7% between 2026 and 2031. Demand is being supported by investments across oil and gas, chemicals and petrochemicals, power generation, manufacturing, mining and marine industries.

Expansion of LNG infrastructure, hydrogen production and storage, carbon capture and storage projects, battery energy storage systems and critical infrastructure is also increasing the need for continuous monitoring of combustible and toxic gases, flames, smoke and heat. At the same time, industrial operators are increasingly integrating detection systems with distributed control systems, safety instrumented systems and emergency shutdown systems.

 Fire detection remains largest segment

Fire detection systems are expected to account for the largest product share during the forecast period, supported by widespread use of flame, smoke, heat and video fire detection technologies in hazardous industrial environments. MarketsandMarkets expects video fire detection to record the strongest growth within this segment as AI, thermal imaging and video analytics improve detection and help reduce false alarms.

Acoustic detection is meanwhile projected to be the fastest-growing detection technology. Ultrasonic gas leak detection can identify pressurized leaks by detecting the sound produced as gas escapes, allowing leaks to be identified without waiting for gas to accumulate around a sensor. The technology is increasingly being used in oil and gas, LNG, petrochemical and hydrogen facilities.

Oil and gas are expected to remain the largest end-user segment in 2026, while data centers are forecast to record the highest growth rate as hyperscale facilities, high-density server infrastructure and battery installations increase fire protection requirements.

North America is expected to hold the largest regional share at 31.6% in 2026, while Asia Pacific is forecast to be the fastest-growing market, supported by industrialization and investment in energy, manufacturing and infrastructure.

Key players

Major companies identified in the report include Honeywell, Siemens, Johnson Controls, Emerson, MSA Safety, Dräger, Schneider Electric, ABB, Teledyne Technologies and Bosch Building Technologies.
