Qatar launches Diamond Exchange with biometric-secured vault
The newly announced Qatar Diamond Exchange (QDE) will feature biometric access control, 24/7 security and surveillance as part of a high-security trading and storage environment in Doha.
Qatar Free Zones Authority (QFZ) has announced the Qatar Diamond Exchange (QDE), a new regulated platform for the trade of rough and polished diamonds and precious stones in Doha.
Located in Ras Bufontas Free Zone, the exchange brings trading, storage, certification and related industry services into a single ecosystem.
Security is a key part of the new facility. QDE includes an institutional-grade vault with biometric access control, alongside a secure trading floor, private negotiation suites and 24/7 on-site security and surveillance.
On-site customs and certification facilities are also integrated into the exchange, allowing members to trade, store and certify diamonds within the same regulated environment.
Qatar has participated in the Kimberley Process Certification Scheme since 2021. Under the country’s regulatory framework, QFZ serves as the competent authority, while Qatar’s free zones are designated as the legitimate entry and exit points for rough diamonds.
The exchange is open to companies involved in diamond trading, manufacturing, cutting and polishing, as well as service providers and industry organizations.
