SDAIA Supports Makkah Route Initiative with Technical Services at 11 International Airports to Facilitate Pilgrims’ Journey
The Saudi Data & AI Authority (SDAIA) has enhanced 11 international airports in 7 countries selected for the Makkah Route Initiative for 1446 AH, implemented by the Ministry of Interior in collaboration with several government entities. These upgrades employ cutting-edge digital technologies powered by data and AI. SDAIA’s ongoing efforts aim to support the initiative annually, ensuring smooth travel procedures for pilgrims, from departure in their home countries to arrival in Saudi airports and their return journey, allowing them to travel with ease, comfort, and tranquility.
In continued efforts, SDAIA’s technical team monitors the systems and workstations associated with the initiative across the 11 airports automatically to ensure operational continuity and smooth processes. They also provide continuous technical support to address any emergency malfunctions, ensuring the highest performance and integration levels.
Reinforcing its efforts, SDAIA deployed mobile workstations and equipped biometric registration stations for pilgrims at airports with the latest technologies to provide integrated services. As part of its operational plan, it also prepared the technical infrastructure to the highest standards to ensure the readiness of all entry points and the swift completion of procedures.
In addition, SDAIA conducted multiple high-availability tests on all systems and technical devices to ensure their efficiency. It also completed all necessary technical integrations with relevant entities to guarantee seamless coordination and enable the swift, effective registration of pilgrims’ biometric data with optimal speed and efficiency.
Guided by the directives of Saudi Arabia’s wise leadership, which call for dedicated efforts to serve pilgrims, SDAIA aims to integrate with relevant government sectors this year to provide the best possible services. These efforts are aligned with and support the Pilgrim Experience Program, a key initiative of Saudi Vision 2030.
