Citix MENA Introduces New Smartboards on Yas Island to Enhance Abu Dhabi’s Smart City Experience
Citix MENA has deployed a new generation of smartboards on Yas Island, marking a new step in the digital transformation of public spaces in the emirate.
The rollout features the company’s Tom smartboards, installed at key access points across the island. Designed as interactive urban information hubs, the smartboards combine real-time updates, navigation tools and digital advertising within a single interface, aiming to improve how residents and visitors interact with their surroundings.
Each smartboard operates on a split-screen format. One side provides practical information such as traffic updates, local events, points of interest, public services and emergency notifications, while the other side supports dynamic advertising content. The integrated navigation function allows users to easily locate destinations across Yas Island.
According to Citix MENA, the project is aligned with Abu Dhabi’s broader smart city ambitions, focusing on connectivity, usability and data-driven urban development. The installations are designed to be intuitive and accessible, supporting both everyday mobility and visitor engagement.
Beyond user interaction, the smartboards collect anonymized data related to pedestrian movement and traffic flow. This data can be used to support urban planning, infrastructure optimization and decision-making processes by relevant authorities.
The Yas Island deployment represents the first phase of Citix MENA’s wider expansion in the UAE. Further smartboard installations are planned for major roads, tourist destinations and other high-traffic public locations, contributing to a more connected and intelligent urban environment across Abu Dhabi.
