State-of-the-art AI Scanners Implemented by Abu Dhabi Customs Centres

The Khatm Al Shiklah and Mezyad customs centers in Abu Dhabi are expected to improve their efficiency and security due to the recently acquired technologies (including AI). The General Administration of Abu Dhabi Customs recently finalized a project aimed at providing its centers in Al Ain city with modern inspection devices. Assisted by the AI, rapid non-stop scanning technology will be available.

The custom centers, located between UAE and Oman, are equipped with seven superb X-ray scanning devices considered to be among the most advanced worldwide, along with two central control and operation rooms for the inspection devices.

The goal of the project is to provide an efficient journey through the customs port, enhance security measures, and simplify trade routes. The capacity of the non-stop scanning technology is up to 100 trucks, 150 tourist vehicles, and 150 buses per hour. This technology is the first of its kind to be implemented in the UAE.

HE Mubarak Matar Al Mansoori, Executive Director of the Customs Operations Sector at Abu Dhabi Customs, highlighted that this project aligns with Abu Dhabi Customs’ efforts to improve the inspection system in different border crossings of Abu Dhabi. It follows the strategic priority of improving customs security and equipping customs centers with the newest technologies and devices to fulfill the requirements of customs operations’ best practices to facilitate the movement of passengers and goods. The goal is to ensure the highest standards of security and safety for employees, passengers, and goods, according to the Abu Dhabi Media Office.
