SDAIA Organizes Workshops on Ethics in AI
The Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA), along with the Arab League (AL), Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), and the International Center for Artificial Intelligence Research and Ethics (ICAIRE) recently organized two high-level workshops. The goal was to improve the role of ethical practices in AI and its tools for managing technology and achieving sustainable development in the region, according to the Saudi Press Agency.
The first of the two, ‘Artificial Intelligence for Sustainability’, was held at SDAIA’s National Artificial Intelligence Center, highlighting the significance of considering the ethical aspect in technology regulations and sustainable development in Arab countries. The cooperation and spreading of values and ethical tools in the Arab nations was encouraged. More than experts participated, as well as 50 Arab organizations from 18 countries.
The second workshop, ‘Ethical Tools for Artificial Intelligence’ was held at the GCC General Secretariat General, featuring the GCC countries’ experience with AI and the role of ethics in the field. 31 experts participated from 12 entities from the GCC countries.
The workshops fulfilled their role in managing AI technologies, fostering data and AI development, as well as promoting awareness on the topic in Saudi Arabia. SDAIA functions as the national authority for data and AI, responsible for supervising its regulation, advancement, and progress, according to the Saudi Press Agency.
