Qatar Embraces AI to Enhance Legal System
Qatar is firmly committed to integrating artificial intelligence (AI) into its local judicial and legal systems, according to statements made by the country’s justice minister, Masoud bin Mohammed Al Amri. Cabinet Decision No 10 of 2021 laid the foundation for this initiative, establishing an AI Committee within the Ministry of Transport and Communication.
This significant announcement was unveiled during the Law and Artificial Intelligence Conference at Lusail University. Minister Al Amri emphasized the transformative potential of AI in elevating Qatar’s legal framework.
AI has the potential to streamline intricate administrative procedures, offer predictive analytics for legal outcomes, and drastically reduce the time needed for legal research. Its data analysis capabilities can unveil hidden patterns and trends in legal cases, contributing to more precise and equitable decision-making.
AI-driven tools can also optimize resource allocation within the legal system, ensuring that critical areas receive prompt attention.
By harnessing AI, the Ministry of Justice aims to provide more personalized and efficient services to the public, further solidifying the nation’s dedication to technological innovation as a cornerstone of judicial excellence.
Additionally, Qatar actively participates in international discussions on AI. The country’s involvement in global AI-focused events, such as the International Conference on Justice held in Riyadh in March 2023, underscores its commitment to staying at the forefront of AI integration in the legal sector.
