More Fingerprint Capture Machines Installed in Commercial Malls in Kuwait
Kuwaiti authorities are continuing their efforts to establish a biometric database aimed at combating crime and improving access to public services. To achieve this, more fingerprint capture machines have been installed in commercial malls across the country. The Ministry of Interior, leading the project, has already set up biometric enrollment machines in venues like the Avenues Mall, enrolling over 500 individuals in just two days. Additional devices are expected to be installed in two other malls, making it more convenient for users to submit their biometrics without prior appointments. Each mall will have two fingerprint capture devices, and the government plans to deploy these devices at governorates and borders as well.
The Ministry of Interior, through the General Department of Criminal Evidence, aims to streamline the fingerprint capture process while ensuring the safety and privacy of the collected biometric data. As of July 16, approximately 750,000 people have registered their fingerprints since the initiative began over 75 days ago. Kuwaiti citizens and residents can schedule enrollment appointments using the ‘Sahel’ app or ‘Meta Platform,’ while citizens of Gulf Cooperation Council countries can do so through the Interior Ministry’s website.
These efforts reflect Kuwait’s commitment to enhancing security measures and improving public services by implementing a biometric database. The installation of more fingerprint capture machines in commercial malls allows for easier and faster enrollment, eliminating the need for prior appointments and ensuring accessibility for a larger number of individuals.
